Would you like to add a little spontaneity to your day? Crystal Twaddell’s post last week motivated me to want to step away from my carefully planned schedule and be a bit unpredictable this summer. However, the lack of white space on my calendar didn’t seem to allow for too many carefree moments.
Will you join me in searching for some unexpected joy in the unplanned moments? #joy #unexpected Share on X
However, maybe you are wondering where to start. It is hard to abandon a well planned out day. So I say schedule in a little time for spontaneity and put aside your need to accomplish. It will do wonders for the soul.
Does adding spontaneity to your day come easy, or do you have to work at it a bit?
Our featured post this week is from Crystal Twaddell. She has a marvelous summer splash series on her website. You won’t want to miss it. Crystal shares how spontaneity can energize our souls. She leaves her readers with ten ways to practice spontaneity. I would love to hear how many on the list you have done in the last week.
“Spontaneity is a child-like wonder that steps out without asking why because to not would be to miss out on the very essence of unbridled joy.”
– Crystal Twaddell

I used to be very spontaneous but chronic health conditions have dampened this, however I do surprise my dear hubby every now & then with a spontaneous walk by the waterfront. 😀
Bless you Maree,
Jennifer
Jennifer, I bet he appreciates those walks. I am so sorry you have to deal with chronic health conditions. Sending a special prayer for you right now. Blessings, Maree
I’m pretty scheduled. I can be a little spontaneous. With some planning. 🙂 laurensparks.net
Me too! I am trying to do something spontaneous every day for a week. I am struggling to find something today.
This is good advice for me to take; I’m not always good at spontaneity. 😉
Lisa – I’m not either. When my kids were little, I was a bit more. But the truth is I am a planner.
Thanks so much for the feature Maree Dee! Don’t you just LOVE summer!!!
I do love summer. Your post is helping me to like it even more. I am working on not being so scheduled out.
I am spontaneous in most areas of my life, except for running. I love to follow a training schedule there. Crystal’s post inspired me to try a little spontaneous running last week. I ditched the watch and the training plan and just ran. It was glorious!
Laurie – Thank you for sharing!! I am working on being spontaneous this week. Maree
I’m not naturally spontaneous — especially when my husband, kids, or a friend suggests it in the middle of something I’m already doing. But when I do give in, it’s usually fun and refreshing. I probably was a lot more spontaneous when my kids were little and they wanted to do something different.
Barbara – I am right there with you. I never regret being spontaneous. Maree
