Possibly, even those who trust in God will entertain thoughts of fear or worry over the unknown. I sure do, from time to time. How about you?

A Tool When You Are Afraid of the Unknown

Another tool I use is grabbing a piece of paper and writing across the top – “I Will Remember.” Then I get busy writing down all of the ways God has helped me in the past. It is excellent to keep these in a journal and glance back when afraid of the unknown.

When you can’t shake the unknown, where do you turn? Do you have a favorite scripture or discipline you do?

  1. Loved reading this post! I especially love the idea of making a list because.I know for me, when life gets overwhelming, it is easy to lose sight of all the blessings in life and all the wonderful things God has done. Thank you so much for sharing this with us and thank you for linking up @worthbeyondrubies

    1. Diane,

Yes, when life is overwhelming, the goodness of God sometimes gets pushed aside. I have found it so important to keep my eyes fixed on the blessings. Thank you for hosting your link-up. Maree

  2. Thank you, Lois and Maree! This was so encouraging! I have so much “unknown” in my life right now that I could be afraid of. I needed this today! Love your use of Scripture here.

    Pinned.

Thank you for linking up at InstaEncouragements!

    1. Patsy, I would say our world is living with quite a bit of unknown right now. I am praying for you as you navigate the unknown. I know you will be holding tight to Jesus. Blessings, Maree

  3. I’ve been praying especially the past few years about making peace with uncertainty. That fear of the unknown can be a killer. It’s a struggle for me. Thanks for sharing Lois’s post here, Maree!

  4. I love the idea of making an “I will remember list,” Maree. Thank you for sharing my post … it was one of those “right-now words from God” for me and I’m praying it will encourage members of this community too. 😊

    1. Lois, Thank you. I do think it will encourage our readers. I hope you are having a great weekend. Maree

  5. Maree, Love your idea of writing down on a piece of paper the times God has helped you in the past. It reminds me of God reminding over and over again to the Israelites how he brought them out of Egypt and fed them and led them to the new land. I used to wonder why was he repeating the same thing over and over again. Then one day I realized he was reminding them of how he had helped them. Saved them. Reminding them that they could trust him. Like you with your paper, we need to do the same thing when we start worrying.

    1. Theresa, Yes, and what is so neat is when you have it written down, you can go back and look. I hope you have a fabulous day. Maree

  6. I’m currently facing a little of the worry of the unknown! I am trying to take my thoughts captive when they try to really take over because I know there is simply nothing that will change other than my nerves with my worry. I have to continue to tell myself…no matter the outcome, there is a purpose for this because God is allowing it.

    1. April, Those are good words to tell yourself. April sending a prayer up for you right now. Blessings, Maree

  7. Hi Maree … I love that you’ve featured Lois here … a good friend with much wisdom to share.

And thanks for the prompt to write down all those remembrances of God’s faithfulness.

    Good stuff.

    1. Linda, How nice to know you and Lois are friends. I agree she has wisdom to share. I hope you have a beautiful day. Maree

  8. Thank you for sharing Lois’s post. God is so good to give us just what we need. I can’t think of one particular verse I go to in times of fear of the unknown–the ones Lois shared are good ones. But I do remind myself that God is good, loving, kind, and wise, and He has promised to give me grace and strength for whatever He allows. One verse that did just come to mind is 2 Corinthians 9:8: “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.”

    1. Barbara, Thank you for sharing this verse. It is a good one to tuck away in our minds. Happy Saturday! Maree
