In the middle of all of our world’s uncertainty, do you find yourself feeling like you aren’t doing enough? Perhaps, you want to do something – but can’t quite figure out how to help. Some of us will spend our time searching for the perfect way to contribute and end up doing nothing. And yet the answer is so simple.

Have you ever been through something unexpected, and your path crosses with someone with similar circumstances? All of a sudden, out of nowhere, a huge sense of relief comes over you, and you recognize – I am not alone. The feeling is fantastic.  What if we tapped into that as a starting place?

Well, this is most likely the first time in our lifetime where we find ourselves with a common thread with everybody. We are living in the midst of a “new normal” and a great deal of uncertainty during this pandemic. What an opportunity we don’t want to miss!

Are you missing the opportunity to support others during our world's uncertainty? Perhaps, you want to do something - but can't quite figure out how to help. #LifeintheUnknown #Embracing30DaysofUncertainty #help Share on X

Love One Another

Jesus gave us a command, “Love one another as I have loved you.” Why not start today by being a blessing to someone? We don’t have to make this complicated or overthink it. We solely have to reach out. After all, we have some common ground.

As I am typing up this post, I hear the ding of a text coming in. The message is simple, “Checking in on you guys, how are you holding up?” Wow, so simple, and yet it felt so great. It isn’t that tough to figure out how to help one another.  Simply follow Jesus’s command and love one another.

Today our featured post is from Lisa Burgess, one of our Grace & Truth hosts. She is contributing her words over on the website, “Do Not Depart.” In her article, she eloquently shows us how each of us can figure out how to help one another by reaching out to one person at a time. She poses some good questions to help you determine what your next step will be.

  1. I was just talking to a friend today about feeling like I am not doing enough during this unusual time. I had to step back and look at it from God’s perspective instead of my own. He sees all the little things I am doing and I believe that is not enough. But God does and that is all that matters.

  2. Yes, we don’t have to over think it but just share God’s love & kindness around.
I have been making cards & sending a special Tea with it to friends & family, so we can join in a common time cuppa together at a distance 😀
    Bless you Maree,
    Jennifer

    1. Jennifer,

What a beautiful idea to send cards and tea. Thank you for sharing it with us. You are a blessing to many. Maree

  3. Yesterday I put together 8 care packages. Each contains;
    – face cloth
    – hand towel
    – bar of soap
    – 3 cotton cleaning pads (make up pads but good for minor scrapes and scratches)
    – 20 Q tips
    – 2 granola bars
    – 1 banana
    – 1 N95 mask
    – 1 hand written prayer for homeless people.
    – 3 sandwich bags to keep things separate
I don’t know if this will help, but have to do something. I spent about $120 to do this ; wish I could help more than 8 people. Being poor myself, I had to think what can I do with so little. The biggest regret is that I can’t include a Bible as well. Just can’t seem to find a way to acquire a quantity of Bibles to give away. I thought that Lisa’s post was encouraging as more people should care about their fellow man/woman.
    Thanks and God Bless You

    1. Kenneth,

  4. I love that you got a check-in text as you were typing this post! Isn’t that just like God? 🙂 Thanks for sharing this, Maree: “We don’t have to make this complicated or overthink it.” I need to remind myself of this again and again.

    1. Michele,

  5. Wow, Maree! I feel that this featured post was specifically for me to read! It’s amazing how the Holy Spirit leads us in the footprints of Jesus. Following His lead in who we are to reach out to!

    1. April, I know what you mean; it spoke right to my heart too. I am trying not to overcomplicate things and just reach out. Maree

    1. Linda – How are you doing during this time? I am sending a prayer up to God for you right now. Maree

  6. Maree,
Thank for sharing Lisa’s post. I’ve been trying to go broad and go deep, but I needed this encouragement to up my game. It doesn’t take much time, but it can mean so much to someone!
    Blessings,
    Bev xx

    1. Bev,

Yes, I like the idea of going broad and deep. I am going to stop right now what I am doing and send a message to someone. Maree

  7. I loved Lisa’s post. She is great at reaching out to others. So often we try to think of some big way to reach out and miss several little ways right at our fingertips.

    1. Barbara,

Lisa does write some beautiful posts about reaching out. I can make it so complicated. Maree
