Do you think we have to skip Valentine's Day merely because we don't have a romantic interest in our life? God's love is the best way to experience love.

Do you think we have to skip the essence of Valentine’s Day merely because we don’t have a romantic interest in our life? After all, we can tap right into the affection of God, and it is the purest, most honest affection we will ever find, and God’s love is the best way to experience love.

This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another."
I John 4: 9-11

On days when I feel unlovable or struggle to love others, I sometimes want to hide from God, and I don’t want Him to see who I am. But all this does is keep me in my misery, and I know it’s impossible to hide.

Do you ever try to hide from the Lord?

When I finally come to my senses, I like to close my eyes and envision myself in the arms of Jesus. Oh, how the tears stream down my face as I hear Him say, “Maree, you are so loved, no matter what.” God wants to whisper that in your ear too.

God’s love is always readily available. He adores us, no matter what! Plus, His way is unconditional. He is waiting for us.

After you spend a little time soaking in God's  Love, you will be ready to offer it to the world around you. #Godslove #love Share on X

From Daily In His Grace, Tracy posted an excellent article based on I Corinthians 13. She encouraged us to keep loving God’s way even when we desperately need a little bit of it ourselves. She reminds us God has called us to love others even when that person doesn’t return it.

We have been sought after by the King of Love. Can you think of a better love than this?

Happy Valentine’s Day!

  1. I love the encouragement to celebrate God’s love even if we don’t have a romantic interest. I had to wait a long time to find my husband. It always ministered to me when writers or speakers remembered people like me and reminded me of this truth.

    1. Amy,
Yes, I think Valentines can be hard when you don’t have a romantic interest or even when you do, but it isn’t what you expected it to look like.

I hope you had a great celebration with your husband.

  2. Hi Maree Dee, thank you for sharing my post on your blog, and the link-up. Feeling some of that love 🙂
God always works opposite to the world’s way of working. The world says “love me, love me!” God says “love others, love others.” It is the giving that we receive. Even if we only receive what we desire in heaven, God’s word remains true!
    Great post, awesome link-up!
    God bless
    Tracy

    1. Tracy –

      Blessings,

  3. “After you spend a little time soaking in God’s Love, you will be ready to offer it to the world around you.” Yes! I have to make sure I stay recharged with time alone with the Lord in order to keep spreading it to others.

Thanks for the warm welcome to Grace & Truth! I’m excited to be co-hosting with a link-up that I’ve loved for so long.

  4. Your post reminds me of the song “You Say” by Lauren Daigle! “You say I am loved when I can’t feel a thing,
You say I am strong when I think I am weak.”

  5. There is a teen Christian retreat in our town today and I mentioned to my husband that I bet they will be talking about God’s love today on Valentine’s Day. We are looking for human love when God is offering us his love.

    1. Theresa,

Praying for the teen Christian retreat. God’s love is pretty spectacular isn’t it.

  6. I often struggle with not feeling more love, even though I know love is not just a feeling. Learning to love like God is a lifelong endeavor, and I pray I may progress more each day. I love that Tracy takes us back to the foundation.

Lisa is one of my earliest blog friends, and I am excited that she’s a new Grace and Truth host! Welcome, Lisa!

    1. Barbara, I couldn’t agree with you more. I love what you said, “Learning to love like God is a lifelong endeavor.”

I agree it will be great with Lisa onboard. Thank you for being such a loyal contributor to Grace & Truth.
