We all know life can be discouraging at times. But do you sometimes get stuck in a deep hole of defeat and don’t know how to climb out? The more you try, the worse you feel. Maybe the answer to feeling better is to cease climbing and dig a little deeper to find the heart of your disappointment. Will you try it with me?
“The Lord is indeed going before you—he will be with you; he will not fail you or abandon you. Do not be afraid or discouraged!” Deuteronomy 31:8
Today our featured post from Jennifer gives you great insight into how to get to the heart of your disappointment and begin moving forward to the joy God has in store for you. She shows us through an example in her own life how peeling back the layers uncovers the root of the issue.
I found myself in a place of discouragement this week over something which had happened. As I dug a little deeper, it became evident it was grounded in an unmet expectation from long ago. Yes, it involved a loss which needed to be faced once again.
Don't you despise how loss and grief are never quite finished? Grieving losses is an ongoing process. It seems to creep back in when we least expect it. Share on X
But the good news is – once we can get to the heart of our disappointment, we can start treating ourselves with care.

Michele, You are so welcome. Thank you for stopping by. Maree
I don’t know if I ever connected disappointment to unmet expectations, but I see now they are related. And it’s good to examine what’s at the bottom of it so we can bring it before the Lord.
Barbara – I love what you said. So true, God is where we need to take it. Thank you for being a blessing today. Maree
