Are you missing the most important moments in the lives of those you love? It is easy to do especially with all of the distractions we allow into our lives. We have phones beeping, commitments to honor, watches to remind us to get moving and much more. We are busy people.

Living in the present moment is difficult. Many of us have forgotten how.

But what is all of this busyness costing us and those we love? My guess is like me – you are missing some pretty significant moments while you stare down at that darn phone or attempt to look up one quick thing on the computer. We all know how quickly five minutes can turn into hours.

How do you make sure you don’t miss the important moments?

Brittany Bonnaffons is a mom who has decided she wants to be present to “see her children grow.” She encourages her readers to “get rid of what prevents you from living in the moment.”This article is one we all need to read whether you have small children or not. It will challenge you to look at where your priorities are and if you are missing out on the most important moments.

  1. Hi! This is my first time here, and most of my posts do not qualify for the Christian Living category. But I do hope you will benefit from “Why I Will not be Thanking my Socks.” Thank you.

    1. Liberty, I am so glad you linked up your post. I went over and left you a message. Hopefully, you will link up with us again. Maree

  2. For some reason your linkup used to be on my radar, but then I couldn’t find it. Don’t ask me why, Maree Dee! It’s all a blur! But I’m glad to find you again and to linkup here along with these other fine bloggers. And congrats to Brittany for her well deserved shout out! I love her heart and blog!

    1. Laurie – Yes, the busyness of life does rob us of much. I am constantly struggling with the balance part. Maree

    1. Yes, it is. It isn’t very often I am thankful for my age. But just the other day I was thinking how blessed I was that when my kids were little, we didn’t have cell phones. We played in the moment frequently. Maree

  3. I’m reminded of a message I heard at the beginning of the year about taking one day at a time and that is how I stay in the present. Today is it. Yesterday is gone and tomorrow may not come.

Many of us are busy doing nothing just so that we can look like we’re busy because that’s how the world defines success. I have no time for that. It’s rubbish to me. I don’t need to look busy if I’m not busy.

Being present is important. When I’m with others, my phone is put away. If I’m not making a call, it’s away. When I’m at home, it’s on vibrate. At 10pm DND (Do Not Disturb) goes on every night. These are just a few of the ways I stay present and live truthfully in each moment. My phone will not control me. .

    1. Yvonne, Thank you for stopping by and leaving some great examples of ways to assure we can be present. I hate to admit it, but my phone is out way too much. I love it when I lose it. Blessings, Maree

  4. I’ve worked at this business of “being present” over the years. Sometimes I succeeded and sometimes I completely missed the point, so I’m still working at it. God is patient, and He sets the example with His eye always on me and always knowing my heart.

    1. Michele – I am right there with you working on the business of “being present.” It is so rewarding when I succeed at it, but I think I will always be a work in progress. I love what you said, “God is patient, and He sets the example with His eye always on me and always knowing my heart.” What a great incentive to keep trying. Blessings, Maree

    1. It is an honor to feature you today. I loved your post, and the topic is something very close to my heart. Of course not because I have it mastered but need the constant reminder to be present.
