Each month at Embracing the Unexpected, we like to look back at the previous month to see which blog post received the most clicks; however, that is not all today. We have a special day on Sunday, and I wanted to share a few words about Mother’s Day.

Now I know Mother’s Day can carry a mixed bag of emotions. Perhaps, life hasn’t turned out as you expected, and this particular holiday stings. You may be hurting for the child you desperately want, grieving the Mom who is gone, or wondering why motherhood turned out so different from your expectations. This post, “Sometimes Mother’s Day Hurts,” might be helpful.
As children of God, let’s stand together and pray for each other; let’s take a moment and ponder someone in our lives who may be hurting this particular day, and send a comforting word and lift them in prayer. If you are hurting this year, I would love to pray for you. Please leave me a message in the comments or send me an email through the contact page.
Let’s Celebrate Mothers
Moms are amazing and deserve praise. Mary stood by the cross, watching her son suffer, yet she was there to the end. She is a hero, along with my momma, when it comes to motherhood. Do you have someone that comes to mind? Let’s celebrate the Moms in our lives.
Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman, here is your son,” and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.

I was very touched by Lois’ post myself. I lost my mom late last year so it was especially poignant for me.
