Do you sometimes look around and see others reaching thousands, and wonder will my small part even matter? Or maybe you see the gigantic needs and pain in the world and feel as though you can’t make a dent. However, when we focus on the need, the mountain to climb, or the impact others make, we sometimes begin passing on the chance to help one.
Last week while I was right in the middle of putting together a blog post and social media campaign for suicide prevention week, I got word of yet another loss in our community. I paused for a minute and thought to myself – “Why bother?” “I am not making a BIG enough difference.” After all, I knew some followers would unfollow, skip over the social posts, or deem it too hard to go near.
But then I came to my senses. I pushed away from the voice and realized if the message of prevention can help one person help another, it is worth it. After all, every life is worth saving.
It is okay when our efforts don't make a BIG splash. We can't pass on the chance to help one. After all, one person helped is enough. Share on X
Help One
Remember – Jesus reached people one by one.
But maybe the step you need to take has nothing to do with helping people. Do you ever fail to take one small action because it seems as though it won’t make a difference? Does this hold you back from pursuing a dream?
Last week Marva Smith had a special guest, Carlie Lake, on her website with a beautiful message reminding us about the beauty of one. You won’t want to miss Carlie article. It might spur you on to take one step forward.
“Oh, the amazing beauty of one. May we never despise these small beginnings.” Carlie Lake
Carlie’s post left me wanting to uncover a dream I keep trying to tuck away. She also reminded me helping one person is enough. And most importantly, she pointed out our best example is in Jesus.
ONE PERSON is all we need to reach. One footstep in the direction of a goal is progress. Will you take the step today? Share on X

I often feel discouraged because I’m a big picture person and like to see results. Thank you for the encouragement!
Anita – You are not alone. I, too, like results and a way to measure the progress. However, I am learning God cares about the one a ton. Blessings, Maree
I have always known that we can’t change the world but we can change the world of one person at a time Maree. That’s important! 😀
A mighty river starts with a very small trickle of water at its source just like the Nile 😉
Blessings,
Jennifer
Jennifer – Yes, one person at a time. Thank you for sharing, “A mighty river starts with a very small trickle of water at its source just like the Nile.” I love it. I hope you had a great weekend. Blessings, Maree
Maree, thank you so much for featuring us here today and also for your wise words of encouragement. Offering my ‘one drop’ to God and trusting Him with the outcome is a reminder I need often. May we never despise our small beginnings.:)
Carlie – Of course! It was an honor. I loved you post and learning you two are sisters. I too need that reminder often. Blessings to you, Maree
What a double blessing, Maree. Thank you so much for featuring my sister Carlie and me for today’s linkup post. It was an encouragement to both of us. I think we all can use the reminder that when we offer our little, God can do much!
Blessings to you, dear friend.

Lauren – It is easy to get discouraged. I am so glad we all have each other to encourage us on. Maree
So good.
Our smile, a touch on the hand to someone in need, a small word of praise to a lonely child–the actions of our heart do leave a mark.
Yes, they do. You are so right – a smile a touch are huge. Maree
I can sure identify with your thoughts and feelings here. Thanks for pointing us to Marva’s site and Carlie’s post and this encouraging reminder.
