Have you stopped praying for the BIG things? It is so easy to become discouraged when our wait becomes long. We sometimes think – “What’s the use, God is not answering.”

Recently I realized I had settled into my “New Normal” and stopped praying for the things which my heart truly desired. You know the BIG things which seem unlikely. Have you done that too?

Now I will be the first to attest; prayer works, and nothing is impossible for God! However –

Somehow, in the long wait, I concluded God was not going to answer my requests. I still prayed for comfort, and he delivered, but I stopped praying for the BIG things. Share on X

A few months ago I decided it was time to get back to asking God for what seems impossible. I started small by asking my prayer warriors to pray for something which sounded like we could handle on our own. To my surprise, my prayers were answered way beyond my expectation. Plus, this answer was a stepping stone towards my BIG request.

It was a reminder – God is good, and nothing is impossible with our Lord.

Don’t stop praying for the BIG things. God will answer your prayers. Of course, it may look different than what you expect, want and desire but he will respond.

Remember –

All things are possible - Stopped Praying for the Big things

Deb Wolf linked up an inspiring post last week on the topic of prayer. She reminds us of the most important thing we must remember in our waiting –  “Nothing is too hard for God!” Through her words, stories and the scripture she chose, I am all fired up to continue praying for those BIG things. I hope you will join me.

Not only do I love reading what Deb Wolf writes each week, but I have also found her website, Counting My Blessings, to be the place I turn to when looking for that perfect verse on a topic.

If you would you like a little extra prayer this week, leave me a message in the comments. It would be an honor to pray for you.

  1. This goes along with what I was just studying!! I think I definitely need to be paying attention to this message that God is ready to do something big but maybe I’m not asking Him. Thanks for the encouragement!! Visiting from WBR linkup

  2. I’ve still been praying for big things. In fact, I think I’ve been better about praying for them and believing God will answer. Except this one area. An area that breaks my heart on a regular basis. It seems impossible that God will bless us with a child of our own—whether biologically or by adoption, and I’ve realized that I’ve just stopped really praying about it in an effort to shield myself. Thank you for this reminder, because my Shield is the only one who can comfort me, even if His answer is ‘no.’

    1. Well, I am going to join you in prayer that God will bless you with a child of your own. I hope it is HIS plan. I understand the stopping of the BIG prayers. I too am praying for some mighty BIG ones again. Blessings and prayers, Maree

  3. This is such a timely post. I am believing God will answer big prayers. I realized I had stopped praying for BIG things in my own life. I know God can handle the big prayers. I am going for it!! Blessings!

  4. Perfect timing: My daughter, 27, needs a new job direction and is tired of waiting. (: Would appreciate God swooping in and surprising her big time and I appreciate your willingness to pray alongside. Her name is Bethany. Thank you! (Also, my eldest daughter is treating me to Bob Goff’s Dream Big Conf in a week and I have no idea what I’m doing…) Feb 11, 12 thank you.

    1. Sue,
I am pausing to lift Bethany up in prayer right now. May God find her just the right job direction.

I am excited for you to attend Bob Goff’s dream Big Conf. What a wonderful opportunity. I am praying for you to dream BIG while you are there.

Thank you for the privilege of praying for you and your daughter.

  5. I do have a BIG prayer that I have been praying. I, too, have slipped into resignation, thinking that my prayer will not be answered. Maybe it is time for me to try again!

    1. Yes, Laurie, let us both pray for the BIG things as well as the little. I am praying for your BIG prayer right now. I may not know what it is, but I know God does. Maree

  6. Thank you so much for the feature, Maree!! You totally blessed me! My prayer it to always remember – it’s only big or little to us. For Him … they are all prayers from the children He loves! <3

    1. Deb, It was my honor to feature your post. I have been concentrating on prayer in my own life. In fact, my next post is on prayer. I love all you have been writing on prayer.

    1. Laura, Thank you for stopping by. Yes, our God can do miracles. I’m waiting on a few right now. Maree

  7. I’ve recently seen a big thing answered and yes, talking to God about it does make a difference! Thanks for the encouragement to not give up, big or little. Love this: “It was a reminder – God is good, and nothing is impossible with our Lord.”
