What if we started counting the blessings we take for granted? Do you think it might lead to being thankful for more? Would you be willing to give it a try?
Imagine for a moment you lost everything, like Job in the Bible. What would you miss the most? Sometimes, it takes us to lose something to realize what we have.
Have you ever experienced this?
Life Can Change in a Moment
After all, we know everything can be taken from us at a moment’s glance, just like Job. We see it happen to others, or maybe it has even happened to you. It seems when it is gone, we recognize what we had. But don’t you want to know NOW what you have? I do.
We don’t want to wake up years from now and realize how fortunate we were. We want to live blessed today. #blessed #gratitude #thankful Share on XBev, our featured writer this week, shares a beautiful story about rediscovering gratitude. It is a fantastic post to end our month focused on gratefulness. Her words left me wanting to be thankful for more, and I think it will work for you, too.
What Are You Taking for Granted?
It seems as though we take so much for granted. I know I do, how about you?
Five blessings I took for granted this morning:
- Another day to live. I woke up breathing and able to move about my day.
- Sight – I can see! My eyes can take in all of God’s beauty around me.
- Hearing – I can listen to the birds chirping and the sound of children laughing.
- Heat – At the flip of a switch, I can heat my home on a cold day.
- Food – I am not hungry like so many people in our world.
Maybe you have participated in our 30 Days of Gratitude, and you are on a roll of counting your blessings. Your heart is filled to the brim with gratitude and maybe even overflowing. Let me challenge you to be thankful for more. What might you be missing?
As November ends, don’t let that be the end of prioritizing gratitude. God has blessed us in so many different ways. Let’s keep counting and expressing our thanks to God for his goodness.
Thankful for More
Let us not wait for something to be taken away to recognize what a blessing it is. Let’s Be Thankful for More! What have you been taking for granted?

It’s never not the right time to talk about gratitude. laurensparks.net
I agree. Gratitude is one of my favorite topics. Maree
always a needed reminder, this nudge to be grateful, to show gratitude, to give praise …
thank you for taking us there, Maree …
Linda – I too need the nudge from time to time. Blessings to you, Maree
Thank you Maree! For your faithfulness in bringing us all together here each week! I truly appreciate your hosting & your lovely insightful posts!
And yes, at one stage in my life I did lose just about everything, including husband, two children, home & material items! Though I still had my loving Heavenly Father’s hand holding me tightly in his grip! But I believe Job’s experience was far worse…
I’m grateful for every day 😀
Bless you,
Jennifer

Maree Dee,
What a delightful introduction. I am really honored to be your featured post this week…talk about a blessing. Thanking God for His making our paths to cross out here in the blogosphere. Grabbing my mug of coffee a little tighter this am and inhaling God’s goodness. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. My husband asked me what I was up to today and I said, “Not cooking, lol”.
Blessings and thanks,
Bev xx
Bev – I, too, count you as a blessing. It is terrific that our paths have crossed. You reminded me to stop for a second in the midst of this busy airport I find myself in and breath in God’s goodness. I’m glad you boycotted cooking today. I might do the same. I loved your post. It was an honor to feature it. Maree
