Have you ever had your tree’s trimmed and cried over it? I have! How about when God cuts off our branches? Do you trust Him in the pruning?
We have quite a few trees at our home. I haven’t always appreciated them until they were destroyed or so I thought. One day I walked outside, and to my horror all of our trees and been chopped off to the bare branches. They were hideous looking.
I immediately called my friend and whined. She kept assuring me they would grow back. I was convinced they were damaged for life. We had already waited so long to have growth, and I was sure we would have to wait a lifetime to see beautiful trees again.
So Laura’s post last week caught my attention. Her experience with having her tree’s cut back made me laugh (sorry), relate, and then I began nodding my head in agreement.
Yes, God is our Gardner, and he too will cut off the branches that are not bearing fruit.
As I pondered for a minute or two, I thought about the branches God is pruning in my life right now. He is cutting them back to make room for something better. Although it is hard to let go, I know I can wait and trust in him.
The trees in our yard grew back fuller and prettier and we will too if we allow God to do his work.

What a heartfelt and inspiring post! The analogy of pruning in our gardens and in our lives really resonates. Just like the trees that grow back fuller and stronger, the challenges and ‘prunings’ we face in life often prepare us for a richer, more fulfilling path ahead. Your reflections remind us to trust in the process and have faith, even when things seem bleak. Thanks for sharing such an uplifting message, and to Laura Rath for her encouraging words. This truly adds a hopeful perspective to facing life’s trials. 🌳✨
Thank you for your comment. I needed your reminder about pruning and growing back fuller and stronger. Blessings, Maree
I really dislike pruning, it’s so difficult and painful. I do know that when God prunes, He makes us better. So when times get tough, that’s what I’m beleiving!

Julie, I am right there with you. I don’t like pruning, but I know it shapes us into who we are supposed to be. Maree

I can identify. The first time my husband cut our roses way back I was sure they wouldn’t grow back. That was years ago. They are so full now and I think it’s time to cut them back again to await new growth. And it is like that in our lives. Sometimes it’s hard to recognize when God is pruning something away and we try to hold on, but when we let go we see what beauty He has in store. Blessings to you, Maree!
It is a bit strange how it works, but God has shown us in numerous way this is how it works. I bet it is hard to see your roses trimmed back but good to know those grow back fuller too. I love roses. Maree
Thank you again for choosing my article as your featured post this week! Blessings to you!
