Easter is almost here! Can you believe it? Life is busy, and perhaps Holy Week snuck up on you. Maybe it has nearly passed without you truly walking alongside Jesus’ journey. But the good news? It is never too late to pause and prepare our hearts for the mighty miracle of the resurrection. Will you take a breath with me, slow down, and ponder this? What perspective do you need to see this Easter?

Each year, God reveals something new in the Easter story— something He wants me to see. As I pore over Scripture and pray, He brings a specific truth to light.
Here are a few past perspectives that left a lasting impact:
Gratitude and Awe for the Cross
One year, I nearly let Easter slip by with barely a glance. I had concluded that my faith was strong enough, and it wasn’t necessary to slow down during Holy Week. But Jesus captured my attention and filled my heart with gratitude and awe.

“The cross is not just something Jesus did—it is who He is: love in its purest, most sacrificial form.”

Sitting in Christ’s Suffering
Another year, God pulled me deeper into the pain Christ endured. I lingered there and, in doing so, grasped more fully the cost of grace.

The Easter Story is Personal
One year, I struggled to find the perspective God wanted me to see until I read Laura Thomas’s beautiful post, “Why Easter is Personal.”

This Easter, God longs to give each of us a fresh perspective. One that speaks to where we are right now—in our pain, busyness, joy, or uncertainty. But we must do our part. We must pause.
Every Easter, God can reveal something new—if we’re willing to pause and see. #pause #Easter Share on XBe Inspired By a Pause
Many of us are familiar with the Easter story. We could recount it with great accuracy. But the story shifts from head knowledge to heart transformation when we pause. Jesus will draw us closer. He reveals something new.
Do you need a place to start? Try walking through Scripture that traces Jesus’s journey—from the triumphant entry to the cross and finally to the resurrection.

Slowing down helps us see—not just remember—the Easter story.
When Circumstances Look Different Through His Eyes
As I paused recently, Mark 14:3-9 stood out to me. Mary anointed Jesus’s feet with costly perfume—a gesture that seemed reckless and wasteful to those around her. But Jesus saw it differently.
What others called extravagant, He called beautiful.
And I wonder—how often do I misjudge what’s sacred because I’m too focused on what’s practical?
How often do I overlook His grace and how He is at hand in my circumstances because I focus on what’s wrong and the struggle?
Pausing reminds me that:
- Jesus sees differently.
- Jesus values what others dismiss.
- Jesus draws near when we slow down.
Jesus Prayed for You!
“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”
(John 17:20-21 NIV)
Let this sink in: Jesus prayed for us. Before we were born, He thought of us. On His way to the cross, we were on His heart.
“If you had been the only one, He still would have gone to the cross. That is the measure of His love.”
—Max Lucado
The resurrection story is personal! He had you in mind when He prayed, hung on that cross, and when he arose from the dead.
A Personal Friend and Savior
Is Jesus your closest friend? Maybe that feels hard to grasp, especially when He feels far away. But He promised never to leave us.
If you’re sensing a distance between you and God, consider:
- Have I moved?
- Have I stopped long enough to pause with Him?
If this is you, Easter is the perfect time to return. Jesus is near. He is waiting.
We have a friend in Jesus!
If Jesus feels distant, perhaps it’s time to pause and reconnect with Him. #pause #findJesus Share on XNever Too Late to Pause and Reflect
It’s never too late to pause, reflect, and receive a fresh perspective on Easter, even if the week has flown by.
A Prayer:
Jesus,
Thank you, Jesus, for continuing to walk towards the cross as you carried the world’s weight and my sins.
Thank you for thinking of me and praying for those who would believe.
You saw my name before I ever knew yours.
As I pause this sacred week, help me see through Your eyes.
Give me a fresh perspective of Your love, sacrifice, and resurrection.
Amen.
Reflective Question:
Take a moment to pause and ask yourself:
What perspective is God inviting me to see this Easter? It may be His love, sacrifice, forgiveness, nearness, or something else.
