No doubt your March 2020 looks a little different than what you had expected. Are you rolling with it or finding yourself at odds with life as it is right now? In the middle of this “new normal,” let me challenge you to ponder – will you gain something from this time?
What Good Can Come From This?
When the unexpected hits, my survival mode kicks in, and I begin immediately looking for the good. I count my blessings one by one. It is a way of balancing the negative.
What blessing have you been seeing?
“This is the day which the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
Psalm 118:24
When the Unexpected Passes
Once the unexpected passes, I love to look back and see my growth. But what if we didn’t wait? What if we started planning for the gain now?

Laura Thomas wrote an inspiring article where she asks us some challenging questions worth pondering. She spurred me on to do more than look for blessings in my day. Laura, had me questioning –
“What if we use this “mountain time” to ponder, pivot, and press into Jesus?” Laura Thomas

This is the real question isn’t it. Not when will it be over? Not how many will get sick, but how will I be different.
Yes, that is the real question. I deep in thought and prayer. Maree
Maree, I love the verse you chose to quote with this post. I think of it with an emphasis on the first word: “THIS is the day…” Not the day we wish for, but the day we are given right here, right now. Perfect verse for today. Thank you!
It is one of my favorite verses. I hum the song often to remind me we are blessed to have this day. Blessings, Maree
Maree, it seems like it will never pass. But I know eventually, it will pass and I hope I’ve gained something besides weight! LOL I have seen the blessing of churches being forced to go online with their services. I think because of this, more people, more than any time in history, have the opportunity to hear the Good News of the Gospel. That excites me!!!
Pinned.
Thank you for linking up at InstaEncouragements!
Patsy, Yes, it is so exciting to see our churches grow online. Attendance is up! Praising God alongside you. Maree
I love this challenge! I will gain: more family time, more family dinners, less mental clutter, and less driving!
Yes, life has somehow become simpler in many ways. I like that part. Maree
It will be interesting in the future to look back at this time and notice the changes that God made in each of us, things we can’t even imagine now. It’s in the middle that we often have the hardest time, but I’m glad God knows the ending.
I am right there with you. The middle can be super hard when we can’t see the finish line. However, we know God can, and that brings me so much comfort. Maree
I love your quote, “Don’t you want to walk away from this challenging time doing more than surviving? Let’s make a plan to gain something from this time. Together let’s encourage one another.” Yes, yes & yes!
Great post Maree!
Bless you,
Jennifer
Jennifer,
You are so sweet. Thank you! I hope you and your family are staying well. Maree
Sounds like Laura has the right idea, Maree Dee! Thanks for sharing about her post and for encouraging us all to make this time of pulling back to be the best spiritual retreat ever!
Beth,
Thank you for stopping by. I, too, loved Laura’s post.

I keep talking to myself about this one, Maree–asking myself, “What kind of story do you want to be able to tell about this time when it’s over?”
It’s a challenge!
Yes, it is.
What I hope to gain from this time is an even more unshakeable faith. I’ve been leaning in harder than ever to Jesus and he is keeping me day by day. The Lord God is my everlasting Rock, my Rock of Ages. God is able and he will not fail.
Yvonne, You have inspired me this evening. I love your unshakeable faith Maree
That’s my prayer, Maree–that God will use this virus and all its effects for good in our lives and turn hearts to Himself. And I pray that the virus won’t last a minute longer than necessary.
Amen – I love your prayer. Maree
