May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Will you let Mental Health Awareness Month pass by without a care? Did you know approximately 1 in 5 adults each year in America will have a mental health concern? Will you take your blindfold off and do what you can do to help?

Please join me this month in doing something to make a difference in the lives of those affected by mental health challenges? I would love to hear your ideas and suggestions in the comments below.

Please be sure to visit the following pages – Monthly Favorites and Mental Health Resources.

We all have the ability to offer something to those impacted. Maybe you can start with a little empathy.  Brene Brown has some wise words on this video about extending empathy instead of sympathy.

We would love to hear your thoughts.

  1. “Rarely can a response make something better.” Amen! I think too many people are uncomfortable and they just blurt out meaningless cliches. Connection is key and I’ve seldom witnessed it or experienced it.

    1. Jennifer – I love what you said, “Rarely can a response make something better.” I try hard not to, but then I find myself doing it. Yesterday our sweet doggie was so sick, and I kept rubbing her and saying, “It’s okay sweet puppy.” I knew it wasn’t okay, in fact, we had to put her down. Those words kept coming out until someone close pointed it out. I then changed my words to “I love you” or just plain silence. Thank you for your comment. I am sure I do the same with people. Maree
